20-something's first blog post!

Hi, N here,
I decided that now is a good time to start blogging, for a few reasons really. One, I have a lot going on in my life that is potentially entertaining for others to read about; fairly new to Chicago, trying to find my career path, studying for the GMAT, Online dating. two, social media is fascinating and the more connecting the better, and third, writing in my journal, which I have been doing since the age of 6, its time consuming and hurts my hand.
So here we go…..

I enjoy baking. I think its amazing that if I follow someone else’s directions, I can get an at least decent result. (I’m still haunted by my Key Lime Pie nightmare from when I was about 12, my mom still makes fun of me).  I try to eat pretty healthy but if I can make something decadent and other people will eat it, I’m extremely pleased. Additionally, being Jewish automatically makes feeding people, often and well, part of my DNA.

So all that said, work is always a good place to try out recipes, or at least it has been so far.  I am slightly limited to what I can safely carry to work (I walk about 1.6mile to get there, so if I can’t walk with it or transport via cab it’s not happening) After an afternoon of searching for the right recipe I stumbled on a fabulous blog, that provides awesome step my step photos (great for knowing what the consistency should ‘look’ like). So last night I made Alice’s Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Below is her link and some of my photos. So far all my victims have enjoyed the cookies and are still upright and breathing.

Ok so cookies are done. On to my next task which is a date that I have tomorrow. Match.com has been an interesting experience- all online dating sites are. I’ve met a few guy who have been legit normal and nice, just not for me.
Last week was horrible however- since when is it appropriate to talk about other girls you’re texting with and the details of your date, and THEN you have the audacity to agree on going dutch with the check??? (I always politely offer to pay, this should always be politely declined by the gentleman on the FIRST DATE, we can argue about picking up the tab in general another time).  I’m crossing my fingers that tomorrow’s date goes well- he seems cultured, smart, interesting, good looking etc. I realize now that he has my full first and last name, so he could find this blog???…C’ste la vie right?!

Till next time...
